Jeff Outlaw is a father, software engineer, pilot, fitness, outdoor and preparedeness enthusiast.


In 1994, Jeff earned a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from Missouri State University.


Jeff is currently emplyed at Garmin International as an avionics software engineer. His current project is upgrading the avionics software of F5 adversary aircraft used at Navy Fighter Weapons school ( Top Gun ) at NAS Fallon. He has heavily contributed to the avionics software onboard the Cessna Citation Longitude.

His software engineering experience spans over 20 years working with the C, C++, C# and Java programming lanaguages and object oriented, multithreaded and functional programming paradigms and frameworks. He holds numerous professional developer certifications from Microsoft including Microsoft Certified Application Developer (.NET), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (Web Developer), Microsoft Specialist (C#), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (WPF) and Microsoft Certified Professional.

Outlaw has an active SECRET security clearance.


Outlaw is a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol United States Air Force Auxiliary where he serves as an air search and rescue co-pilot. He is a two time graduate of the National Emergency Services Academy Mission Air Crew school. Outlaw has earned the Disaster Relief Ribbon with Presidental clasp, the Air Search and Rescue Ribbon and has participated in the readiness exercise Operation Ardent Sentry.


Outlaw enjoys weightlifting, swimming, hiking, flying, martial arts and target shooting. He enjoys writing and blogging about tactical gear, emergency preparedeness and camping.
